Mercadona, a family company, is one of the leading supermarkets in Spain – with both online and physical shops. Every day 5.6 million households place their trust in the company for food, homecare, personal care and animal care. That’s because it puts the customer first!

Created in 1977 by the Cárnicas Roig Group, it currently has 1,633 stores across Spain and 29 in Portugal. Its staff total 95,800 employees including 2,500 in Portugal.

Since 22 September, Resilux Iberica has been injecting, blowing and sourcing three bottle formats for Mercadona’s Just Squeezed orange juice line (250ml, 500ml and 1l) carried in 1,600 stores. These formats are made out of 100% r-PET and account for a total of 18 M units/year. 

Resilux Iberica reached the following milestones: 

• Designing and trialling its own bottle formats for Mercadona.
• Acquiring and initiating a new SIPA blowing machine (4 moulds – 6,000 bottles/hour) with hot filled capability, labeller, capping station and bottle palletiser.
• Establishing supply chains to main Mercadona ‘platforms’ including the Canary Islands.

The result is a great team success for the Resilux group giving us a strong distribution presence in Iberia.
